MEWP (Mobile Elevated Working Platform) Training
Types of MEWP Covered:
- Mobile Vertical machines generally called Scissor Lifts (Category 3A).
- Mobile Boom machines which are self-propelled booms and may be articulated or telescopic booms and can be driven at height (Category 3B).
Course Background:
This course provides appropriate training where personnel are involved in the operation of MEWP machinery.

- Introduction to machine
- Pre shift check of machine
- Safe operation of machine
- Hazards when using machine
Learning Outcomes:
This course will teach you to operate MEWP machinery to the required level of competency in a safe and appropriate manner as prescribed in the health and safety legislation.
This Course is Designed For:
All personnel who operate or wish to operate MEWP machinery.
Training Methodology:
The course consists of both theory (presentation and videos) and practical (MEWP operations).Both parts of the course are highly interactive with role-playing and practical exercises to reinforce understanding and learning. Practical exercises are completed to environment specific to relevant working conditions.
What to Bring to This Course:
- While pens and paper will be supplied, participants are free to bring their own.
- Trainees must have the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment with them to operate the MEWPs i.e. Helmet, Safety Boots, Hi-Visibility Vest, Harness & Adjustable Restraint Lanyard.
Duration of the Course:
(4-6 Hours)
The trainer has the responsibility of signing course participants as competent and duration is based on the trainer’s decision. As a general rule, this training should take at least 4-6 hours unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Participants:
This course allows a maximum of 6 people to attend.
Certification:
On completion of this course, participants receive certification signed off by the Accredited Instructor.
